Tha blaqprint is the third album by the US Queensbridge - rapper Blaq Poet , published in 2009 on DJ Premier's record label, Year Round Records via Fat Beats Records . The album consists of two CDs with 15 tracks each. The second CD contains instrumental versions of all the pieces on the first CD.

The record features guest appearances by the group NYGz and rapper Nick Javas, Capone-N-Noreaga member NORE , Imani Montana, Lil 'Fame from MOP , and the already deceased screwball member KL. The entire album was produced by DJ Premier. Only the songs "U Phucc'd Up" and "Sichuwayshunz" were produced by Easy Mo Bee. The video for the leading album single Ain't Nuttin Changed was released in February 2009. The beat consists of three different samples plus a vocal sample from Akon in the hook. A remix version of the track Ain't Nuttin Changed was also released, including a newly shot video. The remix provides guest appearances by MC Eiht, known from the group Compton's Most Wanted, and Young Maylay , who is best known for his role as Carl "CJ" Johnson in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas .

reception

At Allmusic , Matt Rinaldi called the album a "darker counterpart" to Jay-Z's blueprint albums. The album is decidedly "anti-pop" and incompatible with commercial radio. He awarded four out of five stars. Four out of five points were awarded on the hiphopdx.com website. Sean Ryon called Tha Blaqprint an “extremely well done” hip-hop album, and the honesty of the lyrics and the production, which is reminiscent of the “golden years” of hip-hop, was praised.
