The Thala Rock is a reef rock washed over by the sea off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . At the height of the Vestfold Mountains , it is 500 m before the western end of Turner Island in a water depth of about 2 m.

The research ship Thala Dan , which gave the rock its name, ran aground here on January 16, 1959 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions on the way to Davis Anchorage .
