Thaliahof

The Thaliahof is an office building at the Alstertor in Hamburg's old town . It was built in 1921/22 on the site of the old Thalia Theater built in 1843 . The architects of the expressionist clinker building were Hans and Oskar Gerson .

The sculptor Ludwig Kunstmann created the horse at its head . It refers to the former horse market , since 1946 Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz .

The western part of the original long building on the little Rosenstrasse in 1975 to expand the Karstadt -Warenhauses Mönckebergstraße canceled.
