Thalmühle (Gesees)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thalmühle is a wasteland in the community of Gesees in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth .

history

In 1536, Nickel Herdegen von Culm had a mill built below the village of Gesees in the Funkenbach valley , which lay in ruins for decades in the 17th century.

For a long time was the mill on the path of the last post rider from Spänfleck. In local history stories, the Thalmühle is sometimes bizarre, for example in the evangelical community letter with the wording: "Corpses from Näß, Pettendorf, Pittersdorf, Eichenreuth, Hohenfichten, Spänfleck, Steinmühle, Thalmühle are in the middle of the church path (on the little bridge) between the first and second rectory separated from the porters ”.

The Thalmühle has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. Formerly several buildings (mill, stable and house) probably became a single house in 1863. In 1936 the upper floor of the building was demolished and rebuilt. In 1954 the mill part burned down and was rebuilt smaller. Due to the fire, the mill lost the mill wheel .

Parts of the former cross vault and the Mühlkanal have been preserved. As a result of the complete renovation in 2007, numerous old parts of the building were uncovered and integrated into a residential building. The building cannot be visited.
