The common mountain garter snake ( Thamnophis elegans elegans ) belongs to the genus of the garter snake ( Thamnophis ). It is the nominate form of six subspecies of the mountain garter snake .
features
Females are around 110 cm long, males rarely more than 60 cm.
Like all garter names, they are viviparous .
distribution
It is located in western Canada in British Columbia , Saskatchewan and Alberta and in the USA in the states of Washington , Nevada and in northwest New Mexico .
It occurs in the mountains, but also in valleys. This mountain garter snake can often be found near bodies of water or wetlands.
