The Thaumatichthyidae are a family of deep-sea frogfish (Ceratioidei). The fish are only known from catching around 60 individual specimens in the Atlantic and Pacific . Almost nothing is known about the way of life.

features

Adult females of the Thaumatichthyidae differ from all other deep-sea anglerfish by their enormously enlarged upper jaw, which protrudes far beyond the lower jaw and has long teeth. The fish are 7.5 to 15.5 inches long. Males and larvae are only known from the genus Thaumatichthys .
