The Airborne Toxic Event is an American indie rock band .

Career

The budding writer Mikel Jollett formed the band in 2004 with Daren Taylor in Los Feliz, California . They became known for their MySpace appearance, through which they were included in the list of MySpace top bands in 2006 by Rolling Stone magazine . For the stage cast, The Airborne Toxic Event was expanded to five members. The band name is borrowed from the novel White Noise by Don DeLillo .

After first appearances followed the following year first publications and in 2008 the record deal with Majordomo Records . Their debut album, which bears the title of the band, was released that same year in the USA and stayed at number 1 on the Heatseeker charts for several weeks. Several appearances at the major US festivals were followed by appearances in Canada and Great Britain. There the album was released in early 2009 and reached number 35 on the UK charts. The single Sometime Around Midnight became a Top 40 hit and iTunes # 1 song in the Alternative category in 2008.

In 2010 the live album All I Ever Wanted was released , which was recorded at the sold out concert of the band in the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles) on December 4, 2009. Also included is a documentary about the preparations and the concert itself, which included The Calder Quartet and a marching band.

On April 26, 2011, the band released their second studio album All At Once .

On September 30, 2013, the band's fourth album was released with the title Such Hot Blood .

On October 3rd, 2014, the band released the first single Wrong from their upcoming fourth studio album on Philadelphia's Radio .

In 2014 bassist Noah Harmon left the band for personal reasons. He was replaced by Adrian Rodriguez. The albums Dope Machines and Songs of god and whiskey appeared in 2015 with a new line-up .
