The Applejacks

The Applejacks was a British beat band that was one of the most successful English groups, especially in the mid- 1960s .

history

The group played together as a school band as early as 1960. In 1964 her first single was released . The school rector is said to have given them the choice of either music or school - they chose the former.

They had a full, appealing Liverpool sound that was somewhere between Gerry & the Pacemakers and Peter & Gordon . For their singles, they used songs that were written by well-known composers who had never put them on vinyl. So z. B. the John Lennon / Paul McCartney composition " Like Dreamers Do " or "I Go To Sleep" by Ray Davies .

The Applejacks stayed high in the UK charts throughout 1965, but were almost forgotten shortly thereafter. Her last single was released on CBS in early 1967 .
