The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) is a private art school and is part of Lesley University in Boston . Animation , design , fine arts, illustration and photography can be completed here with a bachelor's degree. Fine arts and photography are master’s degrees. The university states that there are 10 students per faculty.

history

Roy Davidson founded the School of Practical Art in 1912 . In 1967 the college was renamed The Art Institute of Boston . The AIB is a member of the AICAD (Association of Independence Colleges of Art and Design), an association of thirty-six leading art colleges in the United States. In 1998 the AIB and Lesley University were merged. Lesley University is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was founded in 1909.

Facilities

The AIB is located in the Kenmore Square neighborhood in downtown Boston. Most of the AIB events take place in two buildings from the 1920s. Located at 700 Bacon Street and 601 Newburry Street, they have computer labs, classrooms, workrooms, and offices. 700 Bacon Street is home to the AIB library, the dean's office, the photography classrooms and a café. Separate from this are the Fine Arts and Animation students' rooms at 601 Newburry Street. The student residences are located on the Lesley University campus in Cambridge.

Galleries

The AIB has three galleries. The main gallery is located at 700 Bacon Street and offers space for changing exhibitions. Another gallery is located at 601 Newburry Street. Works by students, especially fine arts students, are exhibited there. The third gallery in a building at Lesley University in Cambridge shows a variety of exhibitions by teachers, students and other artists. Access to all galleries is free.

Degree programs and course of study

In the autumn semester of 2006 the university had around 650 Bachelor and 150 Master students. The Bachelor of Fine Arts consists of an intensive four-year degree in animation, fine arts, graphic design, illustration and photography. It is also possible to complete the studies in design, illustration and illustration and art history within five years with a bachelor's degree. Students who already have a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science can achieve a design degree in two years. There is also a master’s degree in Fine Arts in Visual Arts.

AIB study abroad

Study abroad is supported by the AIB. The AIB is a partner of universities in Ireland, Italy, France, the Netherlands and Germany. Students can study Studio Art, Humanities, Italian and Italian Culture at the Italian Language and the Art Institute in Florence, Fine Arts and French and French Culture are available at the Pont-Aven School of Art in France. Fine Arts and Illustration students can spend a semester abroad at Buren College of Art in Ireland.
