The BellRays (also Bellrays ) are an American rock band from Riverside, California .

history

Founded in 1990 by singer Lisa Kekaula and her future husband Bob Vennum, they were based on the one hand on Detroit rock bands such as The Stooges or MC5 and on the other hand on classic soul bands. The main songwriter of the band is guitarist Vennum. Her debut was "Let It Blast", released in 1991 and recorded live, followed by her second album "Grand Fury 1992". A compilation of both albums was released on the Poptones label by Creation Records founder Alan McGhee . The group is still active with changing drummers and has released a total of six albums. Lisa Kekaula was on tour with the resurrected MC5 as a singer. In 2004, a song by the band was featured on the soundtrack of the computer game Driv3r .
