The Besnard Lakes is a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal , consisting of the married couple Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas.
history
The band was formed in 2001 around Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, who jointly run the Breakglass Studios music studio . Before the recordings for the debut album could begin, the other band members left The Besnard Lakes. The two recorded their debut album Volume 1 in their free time in the studio and released it in 2003. After some positive reviews, a live line-up was put together with guitarists Steve Raegele and Jeremiah Bullied and drummer Kevin Laing.
During the recording of the second album, Jeremiah Bullied was replaced by Richard White, keyboardist Nicole Lizée joined The Besnard Lakes. On February 20, 2007, The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse was released by Jagjaguwar . In addition to the regular members of the band, over 20 guests performed, including musicians from Stars , The Dears , Godspeed You! Black Emperor and A Silver Mt. Zion .
