history

The band The Brothers found their real origin a few years before they first appeared under this name. The twins Tilo and Lorenz Buchholz (drums, vocals / guitar, vocals, both * 1968 in Münster) and their older brother Cornelius "Coco" Buchholz (guitar, vocals, * 1966 in Münster) had started in 1978, in their parents' cellar, together with Beatles Rehearse songs and rock'n'roll classics. In 1979 the band first appeared in school halls, community centers and at youth festivals in their hometown of Hagen. After the first three appearances, brother Andres Buchholz (bass, vocals, * 1962 in Münster) decided to join the band. In the early 1980s, the four brothers started writing their own compositions and playing at their concerts. In addition to concerts in the region, the band began in 1983 to perform their music without amplification as street musicians in pedestrian zones.

The band activities were limited to the summer months due to studies and stays abroad. In 1991 the brothers decided to start working on their first CD with exclusively their own compositions and moved one after the other to Freiburg. The band has been called The Brothers since 1991. In June 1992 the debut album Way To Freedom was released . The Brothers continued to play in the pedestrian zones of the republic, which amounted to an enormous promotional activity and increased their popularity. The band received the ZMF award in 1992. The second album, Winter Has Gone , was released in 1994 , again produced by the former rough cut drummer Eroc . The record was also the first on the label True Color Records founded by the brothers. In 1995 Andres withdrew from the band, Thomas Klauer (* 1957 in Essen) took over his part. With him as bassist, the band recorded the EP Short with six titles, which was released in 1995. Here, on the advice of record companies, a test balloon with three German tracks was launched. The band remained independent despite several negotiations and released the album Bluu Tambourine in 1997 . The single Frequency of Love was three weeks in a row at No. 1 of the listener charts of Radio Regenbogen (Mannheim). At the same time, the brothers developed a cover project called "Acoustic Fun Orchestra" (AFO), with which they brought No. 1 hits to the stage in original, humorous versions. In 2001 the next long player appeared with the title For All Born Naked with 15 new songs of their own. A year later, the four musicians released 17 of their fun cover medleys from AFO on a first CD.

In 2003 there was an SWR live production that united many musicians on one stage with their passion and at the same time reminded of the origins of the band's activities: The Brothers' Special Beatles Night , as guests at the Freiburg tent music festival by the brothers invited and accompanied live: Tony Sheridan, Foolsgarden, Franz Benton, Anne Haigis, Julia Neigel, Elmar Hörig, Tok Tok Tok, u. v. a.

In 2006 the next studio album was released with the name Best Before: Tomorrow! . For the 30th anniversary, the four musicians recorded a live CD and DVD, the tracklist of which was selected online by the fans in advance. At the beginning of 2011 Robert "Roby" Scheffert (* 1974 in Freiburg) took over the bass department in the band. In the next two years further CDs of their projects Acoustic Fun Orchestra and Fireworks of Rock , a cover project with song pearls of rock music, were produced. In 2014, after eight years, The Brothers released their next studio album with 13 new titles, Let It Run! . Just one year later, in autumn 2015, they released the AFO album Trip to Mixico with new fun cover songs.
