The Code is a 2014 Australian television series produced and broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation .
action
1st season
The series tells the story of the murder of a young girl in the outback . The girl's friend flees to his teacher after an accident from the perpetrator. The journalist Ned Banks got a video about the accident, his brother, the hacker Jesse, helps to process the video.
It soon turns out that there could be a conspiracy behind this, which extends to the highest political circles.
The focus is on the journalist Ned Banks. He receives information about the possible involvement of political actors, such as the Prime Minister of Australia , and has to rely on his brother Jesse for his research, who, as an autistic, talented hacker, searches the Internet for clues.
In addition to the Banks brothers, the murdered girl's teacher, Alex Wisham, has an increased interest in solving the case. At the center of the political conspiracy are Prime Minister's Advisor Ian Bradley and Chief of Staff Randall Keats.
2nd season
This time the two brothers Ned and Jesse hunt criminals on the Darknet. The journalist and the hacker find themselves in dangerous situations that catapult them out of their cyber world. As in season 1, activities in the Australian government, interwoven with the secret services, play a major role. Part of the story is also the topic of the exploitation of raw materials in third world countries by the industrial nations.

Critics described the first season as an exciting and visually gripping TV story that links events in the Australian outback with a plot of high political circles.
The second season was praised for addressing human rights issues in Papua and the successful presentation of what is happening in the cyber world.
