The Crest is a dark rock band from Norway .

Band history

The Crest was founded in 1996 by "Nell" and Kristian Sigland. Until the recording of their second demo, the band name was changed several times. It wasn't until 1999 that they agreed on their current band name. From then on, their music developed into a characteristic mixture of hard guitar sounds and female vocals. In 2001 the band spent a month at the Sound Suite Studio in France, where they recorded their debut album Letters From Fire with producer Terje Refsnes (also worked on Tristania , Carpathian Forest and The Sins of Thy Beloved ) for the Season of Mist label . The album received positive feedback and the band toured Europe in spring 2002. Because writing and working on the new album took more time and energy in 2003, they decided to take a year off. Nell and Kristian experimented with electronic music that year (under the name "Rustflower Incorporated"). Nell also replaced Liv Kristine at the Theater of Tragedy and took on the lead vocals. After that year, the band reunited and worked on the second album in Top Room Studio (Norway).
