The Deep (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Deep were an American rock band that was active in the mid-1960s. Little is known about the group, but in 1966 they released The Psychedelic Moods of The Deep, one of their first albums - if not the first ever - with the word psychedelic in the title. The Deep's music is comparable to that of The Seeds or The 13th Floor Elevators .

The Deep was founded in Philadelphia . The head of the group was Rusty Evans, who could already look back on a long career as a folk musician . David Bromberg was also involved in the band's only album . The recordings took place in August 1966 in the studios of Cameo-Parkway Records. The album was possibly already on sale in October 1966, before Psychedelic Lollipop by the Blues Magoos and The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators by the 13th Floor Elevators , both of which were released in November 1966.

Nothing is known of the group's appearances, and there were no other recordings. Rusty Evans moved to Columbia Records and released the album Psychedelic Psoul in 1967 under the band name Freak Scene .
