The Defile (English for Der Hohlweg ) is a narrow and ice-free gap in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Taylor Valley , it lies between the mouth of the Suess Glacier and the rubble-covered walnut bar .
Participants in the Terra Nova Expedition (1910–1913), led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott, mapped this mountain pass and gave it its descriptive name.
