The The Devil rock is a cliff rock in front of Georg V. Coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory . It belongs to the Mackellar Islands in Commonwealth Bay and is located immediately north of Cape Denison .
Participants of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered him. It is named after one of the sled dogs on the research trip. This in turn had a name because of his temperament ( English devil , devil, Satan ' )
