history

The Exies were founded in 1997 when singer and guitarist Scott Stevens recruited bassist Freddy Herrera and drummer Thom Sullivan to form a new group. Stevens' friend Chris Skane started out as a guitarist with the band, but left the band and was replaced by David Walsh.

Stevens chose the name "The Exies" based on a biographical statement by John Lennon on Rockline (11/9/2002).

The band released their debut album in 2000 on Ultimatum Records and toured. In doing so, they caught the attention of music producer, Matt Serletic , who bought her contract from her indie label.
