The Flight of the Gossamer Condor is an American documentary from 1978.

The film shows the development of the first maneuverable aircraft operated with pure human power. The team around Dr. Paul McCready designed a light aircraft whose propeller was driven by pedals. The cyclist Bryan Allen was the pilot of the Gossamer Condor , who completed the first muscle-powered flight.

The first flight of the Gossamer Condor took place on August 23, 1977 at Shafter Airport . Bryan Allen flew a prone figure eight at a height of three meters over a distance of just over two kilometers with the device. With this achievement, the team won the 1st Kremer Prize .

Bryan Allen flew over the English Channel on June 12, 1979 with the successor Gossamer Albatross . Allen covered a distance of 35.8 kilometers in 2:49 hours. The reward was the 2nd Kremer Prize .
