The Friends of Distinction was an American vocal quartet .
history
Floyd Lawrence Butler and Harry James Elston began their music careers in a band called The Hi Fi's, which also included Marilyn Mc Coo and La Monte McLemore, who later formed the group Fifth Dimension . The Hi Fi's broke up after a short time and Butler and Elston founded The Friends of Distinction with Jessica Cleaves and Barbara Jean Love in 1968. In late 1969, the quartet received a record deal from RCA Records . Her first two singles Grazin im Gras and Going in Circles were million sellers and each received a gold record . In 1975 the group disbanded.
