The Great Cognito Max Cognito, known as the "man of a thousand faces", takes the stage to applause . He begins with a torrent of talk about the war and changes in appearance and tone of voice in quick succession in Adolf Hitler , Douglas MacArthur , George S. Patton , Erwin Rommel , Winston Churchill , Franklin Delano Roosevelt , a warship, various warriors and finally John Wayne , who is killed by an arrow. Then Max Cognito leaves the stage crying.

The Great Cognito was created in claymation . First screenwriter John Adams Morrison was filmed in action. These recordings were then reproduced frame by frame in plasticine. Morrison is also the voice actor for Max Cognito.
Awards
The Great Cognito was nominated for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " in 1983 , but could not prevail against Tango .
