The High Llamas is a London music project that was started by the Irish - English guitarist and songwriter Sean O'Hagan as a follow-up project to his group Microdisney . O'Hagan is responsible for the music and arrangements.

music

The music of the high llamas combines American pop and folk of the 1950s with Brazilian jazz and bossa nova , film composers of the 1960s and electronic music of the 1990s. The sound is close to easy listening and kitsch music .

The arrangements vary from album to album, but the basis is always based on acoustic instruments such as marimba and vibraphone , nylon string guitars, as well as string and brass ensembles. In the late 1990s, blubber and Klimper effects generated on the synthesizer also shaped the sound.

The group split the audience from the start. Critics dismiss the emphatically sentimental and sappy sound as elevator music . Fans, on the other hand, appreciate the musical richness of the arrangements, which draw from the large repertoire of light entertainment music of the 20th century.

The High Llamas tour irregularly and only release a new album every year. Since the producer V2 Records terminated the contract with the group, The High Llamas have continued to exist as a purely private project with no commercial objectives. The members only meet under this name occasionally and otherwise pursue other projects. The last albums were released by Drag City .

Her current album 'Talahomi Way' came out on April 15, 2011 and follows on from the last albums.
