In Germany the album was rated as mixed. Dani Fromm from laut.de wrote, “'I trained in the mountains', reveals U-God in 'Golden Arms'. It is difficult to avoid wondering whether in the seclusion of the mountains he might not have lost touch a tiny bit. He presents himself calm, calm, solid, but doesn’t make a big dent anywhere. In places it seems much more almost antiquated. [...] 'The Keynote Speaker' leaves a coherent impression, but nowhere seems particularly special. "
Stephan Szillus wrote in the Juice : “He has 'more bars than a penitentiary' - wow, that would have passed as a mediocre pun in 1993 in a Radio Freestyle by Method Man. The instrumentals come from the C-tier of the current indie underground, the guest appearances do not surprise a micrometer (Wu, Styles P, Elzhi, Kool Keith), and where other Wu-MCs of the second row such as Masta Killa or GZA still through her today intellectual, mystical play on words convince, U-God seems rather coarse and awkward in his stoic flow. "
