The Little Mermaid (Musical)

The Little Mermaid is a Broadway musical based on the Disney film The Little Mermaid (German distribution title: Ariel, the Mermaid ), which is based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen . In addition to the well-known film songs by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman , newly composed music by Alan Menken, which was created in collaboration with the songwriter Glenn Slater , will be performed. The book was written by Doug Wright .

It premiered on January 10, 2008 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater on Broadway . The musical ran until August 2009 and was shown 685 times. Francesca Zambello directed the choreography and Stephen Mear.

In Germany the musical was premiered at the Seefestival Wustrau. The performance ran in 2009 and 2010 and attracted audiences from all over Germany. Marten Sand directed the film, Gesine Ringel did the choreography.
