The Machete is a Finnish death and thrash metal band from Helsinki and Tampere that was formed in 2003.

history

The band was formed in 2003. After a few rehearsals, Santtu Hämäläinen ( Mokoma ) joined the band as the new bass player. Shortly afterwards he switched to electric guitar, so guitarist Kuisma Aalto now played bass instead. Guitarist Juha Javanainen and drummer Teemu Saikkonen were also represented in the band. The rest of the year the band spent writing new songs, so by the end of the year there was enough material for a debut album, but the band still lacked the right singer. Then Tuomo Saikkonen (Mokoma, ex- Mind Riot ) joined the band as a singer. In early June 2004 the band recorded their first demo. The rest of the year the group spent playing their first concerts. Work on the debut album began towards the end of the year, followed by a contract with Spinefarm Records in spring 2005. Her debut album Regression was released on this label in August . The album featured Hämäläinen on bass, as Kuisma Aalto left the band in January 2005. After the album was released, Antti Vajanto joined the band as a new, permanent bassist. In 2007, Spinefarm Records released their second album, Untrue .

style

The band plays a mixture of Thrash Metal and partly melodic Death Metal, whereby the music is described as a mixture of Slayer , Shadows Fall and Ill Niño .
