The Monotones was a Dutch band that was formed in 1979 and consisted of members of the glam rock formation Catapult.
biography
The debut single Mono , released in 1979 , a parody of songs such as The Buggles ' video Killed the Radio Star and Ms Pop Muzik , entered the Dutch and German Top 20 in early 1980, and shortly afterwards into the Swiss Top 10 . Because this song didn't fit the glam rock sound of Catapult, the members decided to start the project The Monotones.
The following singles Zero to Zero and Edison , which did not make it into the charts , also appeared under this name . The album The Monotones , on which the three previous songs can be found, also missed a chart notation. With Cheap Cheap Cheaper (Tokyo Theme) , the group produced their last single in 1982, which also went largely unnoticed.
The musicians released other records under the names Rubberen Robbie, Bart en Berend Bagger and Rudolf de Robot.
