The Novas were an American surf rock band from Minnesota formed in 1964 .

history

After a few successful appearances in local clubs and successes in a talent competition, the band won a recording session in the newly built Dove Recording studio in Minneapolis . As a result, the band got a record deal with Parrot Records and landed a hit with The Crusher that rose to number 88 in the charts. The song in honor of wrestler Reginald Lisowski was covered by Hasil Adkins and the Cramps , among others .

During a 1965 performance on the University of Minnesota campus , security noticed alcoholic beverages on the stage. The then underage members of the band were then taken to prison by the police. As a result, Owens had to leave the band on the instructions of his parents. There were no further appearances at first.

In 2007 there was a reunion in Medina (Minnesota) as part of a Hall of Fame show.
