The Portal ( English for the main entrance ) is a passage between Portal Mountain and the Lashly Mountains in East Antarctica Victoria Land . It represents the connection of the Skelton glacier from the polar plateau to the Skelton firn field.

The descriptive name was given by participants of the New Zealand team of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1956-1958).
