The Portal Mountain ( English for entrance mountain ) is a 2555 m high mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . With an ice cap on the summit, rises south of the Lashly Mountains on the south side of the main stream of the Skelton Glacier , where it flows away from the polar plateau .
The descriptive name gave him participants of the New Zealand team of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) based on the name of the glacier passage The Portal , which is formed by him and the Lashly Mountains.
