The Qube is a building constructed in 1969 in the Canadian city of Vancouver . It was previously known as the Westcoast Transmission Company Building (1969-2000) and the Duke Energy Building (2000-2004).
history
The building received the American Iron and Steel Institute's Design in Steel Award in 1970.
Initially, the building housed offices of the energy company Westcoast Transmission Co. , from 2000 Duke Energy . The building was renovated in 2004/2005 and apartments have been under construction ever since.
architecture
In the center of the building there is a reinforced concrete base. The thirteen glass floors are suspended from steel cables attached to the base. Due to its construction, the building is particularly earthquake-proof.
Others
The building gained some notoriety as the location for the Phoenix Foundation headquarters in the MacGyver television series .
