The Second Time was released on October 1, 1984. It became a huge success in a number of countries, including Germany with a top ten placement. In the United States , the song hit the charts in December 1984 under the title Go for It .

The song is originally 3:50 minutes long and appeared on the album Teases & Dares . On the B-side of the single is the track Lovers on a Beach . The Second Time is the first song by Kim Wilde, of which there are many different versions: there is an extended 6:30 minute version as a 12-inch record and there are also some remix versions.
