Select (German: “select” or “choose”) is the second studio album by British singer Kim Wilde . It was released on RAK Records in May 1982 .
background
Select followed the successful debut Kim Wilde , but the first single Cambodia , released six months before the album, showed a change in the sound, which tended significantly more in the direction of synth pop . The songs were again written by Marty and Ricky Wilde and produced by the latter. Lyrically Select followed on from the first album; View from a Bridge, for example, is about suicide , with Ego the opposite of a love song was recorded. The song Can You Come Over was recorded in the Wilde family home. Gered Mankowitz photographed Kim Wilde for the cover.
In the United Kingdom , the album reached number 19 in the charts, in the United States it could not place. In Austria reached Select place 20 and in Germany fourth place in the album charts . In the Netherlands the album came in at number one and in Sweden at number two on the hit list there.
