The Very Best of Meat Loaf (English for: " The very best of Meat Loaf ") is an album released in 1998 that spanned the first 21 years of Meat Loaf's musical career. Although the album did not reach the top 10 on the UK charts, it went platinum and went platinum in other countries shortly after its release.

content

The double album includes all of Meat Loaf's well-known songs as well as some from his lesser-known 1980s albums.

In addition to hits like Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) , this CD contains three new tracks. Two of them were written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman and adapted from their musical Whistle Down the Wind . The third new track, Is Nothing Sacred , was written by Steinman and copywriter Don Black. The single version of this song is a duet with Patti Russo , while the album version sings Meat Loaf alone. The single version later appeared on CD VH1: Storytellers .

Bat out of Hell is represented with 5 songs, Bat out of Hell II: Back Into Hell with 4 songs, while no single from the album Blind Before I Stop is represented, which has been criticized by some.
