background

The album achieved platinum status in the US and UK and gold status in Germany. The album sold more than 2.5 million times worldwide. The album was produced by Ron Nevison, co-producers are Sammy Hagar , Steven Van Zandt and Meat Loaf himself. Of the twelve songs on the album, two were written by Jim Steinman and both are cover versions . Original Sin is taken from Pandora's Box's album of the same name (it was also heard in the movie Der Schatten , where it was sung by Taylor Dayne ) and Left in the Dark from Steinman's solo album Bad for Good .

The first two singles were written by Diane Warren , who later also wrote songs for Meat Loaf's album Couldn't Have Said It Better and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose .
