The Vincent van Gogh Biennial Award for Contemporary Art in Europe

The price The Vincent Award (short and the Vincent Award called) was awarded from 2000 to 2014 every two years to young European artists whose outstanding works to influence contemporary art in a special and lasting way.

The 50,000 euro prize was donated by the Broere Charitable Foundation and organized and awarded in 2000, 2002 and 2004 together with the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht and in 2006 and 2008 with the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The prize was also linked to an exhibition of the prize winner's works.

In 2008 an audience award was also awarded. No prize was awarded in 2010 or 2016. In 2018 the final suspension of the price was announced.

Others

The Austrian artist Peter Friedl renounced his nomination in 2008 and declined to participate in the competition.
