Eija-Liisa Ahtila
Eija-Liisa Ahtila (born August 6, 1959 in Hämeenlinna , Finland ) is a Finnish filmmaker and video artist. She lives in Helsinki.
In 2000 she won the Vincent Award ( The Vincent van Gogh Biennial Award for Contemporary Art in Europe ), which was then endowed with 50,000 euros . Two years later a solo exhibition at the Tate Modern in London followed. In the same year Ahtila was represented at the Documenta in Kassel with her video work The House , in which she, spread over three projection surfaces, addresses the psychosis of a young woman who is gradually losing her sense of space and time. This work was based on conversations between the artist and psychotic women. In 2006 Ahtila won the Artes Mundi Prize .
In 2011 she was appointed to the competition jury of the 68th Venice International Film Festival .
