Theale is a village in Berkshire, southern England , eight kilometers southwest of Reading , on the River Kennet .

The name Theale is historical and is derived from the many pubs and breweries in the village. Theale was formerly known as "The Ale", which translates for "The Beer". Theale is on Bath Road, which used to be a major trade route between the north and south of England.
