Them is a heavy metal band founded in 2014 .
history
Originally set up as a pure tribute band, Them was founded as a studio band in 2014. In spring 2016 the debut EP Fear Them was released by Empire Records. After a US and Canada tour supporting Helloween , the debut album Sweet Hollow was released in October 2016 , also on Empire Records. In the spring of 2017 a European tour and several festival appearances followed. The band performed in the Netherlands, Spain and Denmark, among others. At the beginning of 2018, the group signed a contract with SPV and announced an album release for the same year.
style
The band, founded as a King Diamond co-association, plays a mixture of heavy metal and power metal with progressive elements. The band's closeness to King Diamond is certified by various reviewers. The singing in particular is mostly based on the example of the group. Nevertheless, the music should not be limited to a copy of King Diamond, according to Boris Kaiser in a review written for Rock Hard magazine :
“Despite the storyline, the sometimes very King Diamond-like (and fantastic!) Vocals from Norr and the song structures reminding of the 'original', THEM are clearly more than mere copycats of Kim Bendix Petersen, they are more responsible for the even without 'cross-references 'Super functioning Power Metal album, which is between US-American achievements and a few Euro influences (with the speedy ´The Harrowing Path To Hollow´ or the beginning of ´Down The Road To Misery´, Blind Guardian seem to be' Tales From The Twilight World 'times) and, unsurprisingly, also lives from Ullrich's understanding of melodies, known from Lanfear and Septagon. "
