Theo Fischer (musician)

Theo Fischer (born October 14, 1926 in Münster-Sarmsheim ) is a German composer and music professor.

Life

Theo Fischer is the son of the musician Theodor Fischer and father of the composer Gerhard Fischer-Münster .

As the son of a private music teacher, he received his first piano and violin lessons at the age of five . He studied violin, piano, choir and orchestral conducting and musicology at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz .

In 1939 he became organist at St. Peter and Paul. Until 1952 he directed the Catholic church choir Cäcilia. From 1956 he was a freelance choir and orchestra conductor and from 1961 to 1986 music teacher at the Stefan-George-Gymnasium in Bingen am Rhein

Compositions

Theo Fischer has written over 800 works. He is one of the most frequently performed choral composers today.
