Theo Grüner (born October 24, 1976 in Längenfeld , † August 3, 2010 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian football player .
life and career
Grüner started his career at FC Tirol before moving to the record champions of Austria's SK Rapid Wien in 1997 , in 1998 he played for half a year at FC Admira Wacker Mödling , after which he moved to SC Austria Lustenau , where he spent a few years in the Austrian Bundesliga and first League played. In 2003 he went to Wacker Innsbruck , with whom he rose from the Regionalliga West to the Bundesliga.
On August 13, 2007, Grüner was operated on for a kidney tumor with lymph node metastases and had to interrupt his career. In 2008 his player contract with Wacker Innsbruck was terminated , Grüner became sports director for the Tyroleans. He was able to fulfill this task until March 2010. On August 3, 2010, Grüner succumbed to cancer .
Theo Grüner played a total of 200 games in the Austrian Bundesliga and scored 5 goals. In the first division he came to 65 games and 8 goals. In the ÖFB Cup, Grüner was used five times.
