Theo Thole

Theo Thole (born April 1, 1950 in Drenthe , † July 4, 1996 in Groningen in the Netherlands ) was a Dutch scientist, researcher and professor of physical chemistry .

Career

Thole studied chemistry at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. It was there that he did his doctorate on the subject of the reaction field of Hamilton operators . Other research focuses of Thole were quantum mechanics , core-level spectroscopy , magnetic X-ray dichroisms and synchrotron radiation . As part of his research, he also developed software to anticipate global climate changes . With his publications and his research work, he laid the foundations for quantitative-chemical calculations. He has also worked as a scientist, researcher and professor at the University of Amsterdam and at the large multinational research facility European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble (France).
