The Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium is a municipal high school in Esslingen am Neckar . The specialty of this school lies in the French- bilingual train and the numerous exchange possibilities.

history

The school was founded in 1883 as a high school for girls. In 1914 it became a girls 'secondary school, in 1937 an upper secondary school for girls and in 1954 a girls' grammar school. In December 1967 the new building on Breslauer Straße was inaugurated. With the move to the new building in 1968, the school was named Theodor-Heuss -Gymnasium. At the same time, boys were also accepted for the first time, so that the school has been co-educational since then.

The new building, inaugurated in 1967 and initially designed for 21 classes, including two gyms, was made of gray exposed concrete . The wide corridors and an open, huge foyer with staggered levels are remarkable. The plans come from the Stuttgart architects Karst and Kimmig. The building has been a listed building since 2009.
