Theodor-Körner-Hof
The Theodor-Körner-Hof is an urban residential complex in Vienna - Margareten . It is located in the Leopold-Rister-Gasse, Grünwaldgasse and Kohlgasse near Matzleinsdorfer Platz.
Building description
The Theodor-Körner-Hof was built between 1951 and 1955 by the architects Ladislaus Hruska and Kurt Schlauss on the approx. 6 hectare site of the former hay, straw and horse market . It was named after the social democratic mayor of Vienna and later Federal President Theodor Körner .
With 1356 apartments, the complex is the largest urban residential complex in Margareten. The style - block of flats - corresponds to the construction of the post-war period and thus stands out from the other municipal buildings in Margareten, which were built before the Second World War .
Ultimately, total construction prevailed in this municipal building, i.e. H. the entire area of the former horse market was built. Nevertheless, this building has a lot more green space than the buildings in the area.
Matzleinsdorf high-rise
Main article: Matzleinsdorf high-rise building
In the center of the facility is the 20-storey Matzleinsdorf high-rise, which is 60 m high and can be seen from afar.
Noise barrier
Due to the increasing noise (car traffic, railroad, S-Bahn) in the area of the belt , an 18 m high and 150 m long noise protection wall was erected at the community housing complex "Theodor-Körner-Hof" - the highest in all of Vienna . The elements are made of glass to bring enough light and brightness into the area between the houses. In the top row, a 190 m² photovoltaic system from Wien Energie was installed, which was used for the first time in this form. Due to the novel arrangement of the privacy strips to avoid reflections, measures have also been taken to protect birds.
