Kurt Maria Johann Karl Schlauss (born on April 13, 1924 in Vienna , died on September 1, 2005 there , in literature occasionally called Kurt Schlauss ) was an Austrian architect.

Life

He grew up in Hinterbrühl near Mödling . After completing compulsory school and attending the Höhere Staatsgewerbeschule in Vienna, he studied architecture, first at the Academy of Fine Arts , then from 1943–1947 at the Technical University . While still a student, he worked in Karl Kupsky's office , and then became his assistant at the Technical University. 1956–1967 he was a lecturer there, 1964–1973 he had further lectureships at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. In 1974 he was appointed full professor. In 1948 he founded his own architecture office, which he ran until 1995.

Schlauss worked primarily for the city of Vienna, although his tasks were very diverse: he built both residential and transport structures.

He has worked on some buildings that shape the cityscape of Vienna, such as the Matzleinsdorfer high-rise , the horticultural high-rise or the Jonasreindl . In the Danube Park , which emerged from WIG 64 , he planned the high-rise buildings, in particular the Seerestaurant (today Korea Kulturhaus Wien ). He was also commissioned to carry out repair work, for example for the Nussdorf lock (1978–1983) or the Gürtelstadtbahn (today's elevated route of the U6 , 1981–1989), which also includes the Wienzeilenbrücke .

He was buried at the Döblinger Friedhof .
