The Emil Empire Hof is a council in the 19th Vienna district Döbling . It was built between 1955 and 1957 according to plans by the architects Ladislaus Hruska and Kurt Schlauss and comprises 110 apartments.

location

The Emil-Reich-Hof is located in the Döblinger cadastral municipality of Oberdöbling . The residential complex was built along Döblinger Hauptstrasse 87-93 and consists of four adjacent building blocks. Behind the residential complex there is a large green zone through which the Krottenbach once flowed. On the opposite side of the community building is the Wertheimsteinpark .

Architecture and art

The Emil-Reich-Hof is divided into four building blocks with five stairs. The two outer buildings were built directly onto the neighboring buildings. The southernmost of the buildings (no. 87) has two staircases and five storeys and was decorated with the ( art in architecture ) corner mosaic "Representations from the Roman era to the 19th century", created between 1955 and 1956 by Ernst Schrom . The two following, free-standing parts of the building were set back a little behind the building line. The northernmost, six-storey structure, like its southern counterpart, has a perforated facade and a gable roof. There are balconies on the sides of the two buildings. The middle buildings have eight storeys, the central projections of which are structured by side balconies. The façades, which are kept simple, are loosened up by the height-shifted staircase windows. In addition to the corner mosaic , the sculpture of a young dancing couple designed by Gottfried Buchberger in 1956 is another work of art (art in architecture) in the residential complex .

The residential complex was named after the literary scholar and author, art patron and founder of adult education centers Emil Reich .
