Theodor Dietrich
Theodor Dietrich (born January 11, 1833 in Meißen , † October 1, 1917 in Hanover ) was a German agricultural chemist.
Dietrich, the son of a school director, completed an apprenticeship for several years in a pharmacy and worked from 1852 to 1857 as an assistant to Julius Adolph Stöckhardt at the Academy for Forestry and Farmers in Tharandt . In 1857 he was charged with a agrochemical dissertation at the University of Leipzig Dr. phil. PhD. From 1857 to 1902 he headed the agricultural research station for Kurhessen, which was initially located in Haidau , from 1865 on the Altmorschen domain and from 1880 in Marburg .
One of the main focuses of his research activities was investigations into the weathering of soil-forming rocks. He also tested the suitability of organic and mineral substances as fertilizers in extensive series of tests. From 1868 to 1914 he published the " Annual Report on Advances in the Overall Field of Agricultural Chemistry " in collaboration with specialist colleagues, at times also alone . In 1880 he was given the title of professor, in 1902 he was appointed to the secret government council.
