Theodor Kestner

Theodor Friedrich Arnold Kestner (born May 15, 1779 in Hanover , † May 28, 1847 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German physician .

Theodor Kestner was the fifth son of the Hanoverian lawyer and archivist Johann Christian Kestner (1741–1800) and of Charlotte Kestner, b. Buff (1753-1828), Goethe's Lotte.

He studied medicine in Jena from 1798 and in Göttingen from 1800 , where he received his doctorate in 1802 and was appointed private lecturer . In 1804 he settled in Frankfurt am Main as a doctor through Goethe's mediation . Here in 1813 he became a professor at the medical and surgical special school at the Senckenberg Foundation , in 1814 city doctor of Frankfurt, and finally in 1816 a rural physician.

He is buried in Frankfurt's main cemetery, Gewann A 413 G.
