Theodor Schlumberger

Theodor Schlumberger (born May 13, 1840 in Mulhouse ; † February 18, 1917 there ) was a textile manufacturer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Schlumberger attended grammar school in Mulhouse until 1856, studied mathematics in Paris in 1857 , then attended the technical college from 1858 to 1861 and acquired an engineering degree in mechanical engineering in Paris. After spending a year in England, he joined his father's business as technical manager. He was also a member of the supervisory board of several Alsatian textile factories, banks, trams, etc. In 1899 he was a shareholder in the founding of the Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken . He was also chairman of the Alsatian industrial syndicate and a member of the Mülhauser Chamber of Commerce. Theodor Schlumberger was honored with the title of " Kommerzienrat ". After Eduard Köchlin gave up his mandate before the opening of the Landtag, Schlumberger was elected by the Chamber of Commerce to be a member of the first chamber of the Landtag of Alsace-Lorraine .

From July 1900 to 1907 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Alsace-Lorraine 2 ( Mulhouse ) and the National Liberal Party .
