Theodor Selig

Theodor Selig (born September 16, 1874 in Unlingen ; † February 13, 1967 there ) was a pastor , historian and local researcher.

life and work

Selig grew up in Unlingen and went to school there. He was ordained a priest on July 18, 1900. He was then vicar in Bad Waldsee , Schwenningen, Zimmerbach and Zwiefalten. From 1904 to 1908 he served as parish administrator in Seekirch. From 1908 to 1950 he fulfilled his duties as pastor in what is now the Unlinger suburbs of Dietelhofen and Uigendorf.

At every pastor where he was active, he worked his way into the local history in his free time. This resulted in more than 280 papers. The focus of his essays was the buses and the people and places around the buses.

He published his main work "Der Marktflecken Unlingen" in 1930. On November 13, 1930, he received honorary citizenship of Unlingen for this service. On February 11, 1953, he was made an honorary citizen by the city of Riedlingen. His home community Unlingen named Theodor-Selig-Strasse after him.

Theodor Selig died on February 13, 1967 in Unlingen.
