Theodor Stever

Theodor Stever (born October 11, 1748 in Rostock ; † April 23, 1834 there ; full name: Johann Christian Theodor Stever ) was a German lawyer. Until his death he held the office of councilor of Rostock.

Life

Theodor Stever was the son of the Council and Trade Secretary Theodor Ernst Stever. He studied law at the University of Rostock and then worked as an assistant in his father's office. In 1775 he became a lawyer, in 1776 protonotary. In 1801 Theodor Stever was elected councilor.

Theodor Stever was married to Justina Maria Stubbe, his son Heinrich Kurt Stever , who emigrated to Dorpat in 1818 , was also a lawyer. A grandson is the church and history painter Gustav Stever .

Individual evidence

  1. The statement that Stever was briefly mayor of Rostock in 1834 until his death seems to be wrong. The official state calendar of Mecklenburg-Schwerin names him in Rostock in 1834 as councilor, his son of the same name as Protonotarius; in the state calendar of the following year 1835, only the son can be found in the unchanged official position.
